“-PD. Positive ID,” says the police officer driving the police car. The police officer in the back seat hand Roger’s wallet back to Thornhill. “Absolutely. No question, “says the driver. “Michigan Avenue, proceeding north to forty-second precinct.”<\/p>

There’s a pause.<\/p>

“What?” says the driver to the radio phone. “Come again? You sure? Okay. Right. Yeah, I got it.\u00a0 One oh five five, off and clear. ” The driver makes a sharp turn.\u00a0<\/p>

“Where are we going?” asks the officer in the back seat.\u00a0<\/p>

“Airport,” says the driver.\u00a0<\/p>

“For what?” asks the back seat officer.\u00a0<\/p>

“Orders,” says the driver.\u00a0<\/p>

“Airport?” says Roger, “I don’t want to be taken to the airport! I want to be taken to police headquarters!”<\/p>

“You do, huh?” says the driver.\u00a0<\/p>

“Well, why’d you think I sent for your fellows?” asks Roger.\u00a0<\/p>

“How ’bout this guy, Charlie?” says the driver. “He sent for us!”<\/p>

“Sit back,” says officer Charlie to Roger.<\/p>

“But didn’t you hear what I said? I wanted to be taken to police headquarters! I’m a dangerous assassin! I’m a mad killer on the loose! “<\/p>

“You oughta be ashamed of yourself!” says the driver.\u00a0<\/p>

Later, the police car pulls up in front of the Midway Airport terminal.
